Prof. Mahanta obtained his MBBS degree from Gauhati Medical College under Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, India, in 1994; Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree (Forensic Medicine) from the same institute in 2001 under the same university; Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati, Assam, India in 2021.

He was awarded Fellow of the Indian Association of Medico-legal Experts (IAMLE) at the 5th International Conference on Legal Medicine, Medical Negligence & Litigation in Medical Practice & 5th International Conference on Current Trends in Forensic Sciences, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology held at the International Centre Goa, India from 25th to 27th Feb '14. Also, the Award of Distinguished Fellowship of the Indian Congress of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology (ICFMT) was conferred in recognition & appreciation for outstanding contribution to the field of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology at the XIVth Annual National Conference of ICFMT held at SGT University, Gurgaon, India from 13th to 14th Nov '15 and also awarded the Fellow of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in 2023.

Prof. Mahanta is the editor of the Modern Textbook of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. He has also edited another book on research methodology, Medical Writing: A Guide for Medicos, Educators, and Researchers. Asia's most prominent medical publisher Jaypeebrother Medical Publishers Pvt Ltd, New Delhi, India, publishes both of his books.

He has attended more than 60 CMEs cum Conferences accredited by the Medical Council of India (MCI) at State, National & International levels. He also presented over 60 papers in different CMEs and Conferences accredited by MCI.

He has 80 published articles in peer-reviewed indexed journals of national and international repute to his credit on health research, medical education, and medico-legal issues arising from day-to-day medical practice. He has also contributed 58 textbook chapters to different textbooks.

He has been a guest lecturer at different government and private institutions to train various officers and doctors on medico-legal issues, health research and medical education.

He is a life member of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine, Indo-Pacific Academy of Forensic Odontology, Indo-Pacific Academy of Forensic Nursing Science, National Foundation of Clinical Forensic Medicine, Indian Association of Medico-Legal Experts, Life member of Medico-legal Society of Assam, Indian Medical Association, Indian Congress of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Founder Member of Academy of Health Research and Medical Education, Academy of Health Professions Educators and was the former Joint Secretary (East Zone) of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine, the largest Academic Organization of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. Dr. Nirmal Chandra Bhattacharyya received his MBBS degree from Gauhati Medical College, Assam, India, in the year 1973. Subsequently, he joined the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh as a junior resident in the Department of General Surgery in the year 1975. He completed his M. S. in General Surgery in 1978 and M.Ch. in Pediatric Surgery from the same Institute in 1980. After a brief period of working as a Senior Resident in Pediatric Surgery in Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, he joined as Assistant Professor of Pediatric Surgery at St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore in 1981. He is credited with establishing the Pediatric Surgery unit in this Medical College, which became an M.Ch. Training centre. After two years of serving this institute, he moved to Tanzania to serve as a faculty in Muhimbili Hospital under the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Dar-es-Salaam. In 1985, he returned to India and joined the Government service as Assistant Professor of Pediatric Surgery in Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, Assam. He started a small Pediatric Surgery unit in this College, which flourished to become a full-fledged department of Pediatric Surgery, serving the entire upper Assam population.
In 2002, he was posted in Gauhati Medical College as Professor & Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery. He was instrumental in the up-gradation of the department to an M.Ch. Training centre for Pediatric Surgery in 2008. In the year 2011, he joined as the Vice-Principal of Gauhati Medical College and his existing responsibility as Professor & Head of Pediatric Surgery. During this period, he was also the Dean of Faculty of Medicine of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam. In 2014, he was appointed as the Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of the newly established Tezpur Medical College, Assam, where he continued till his retirement from Government service in December 2016. During this period, he has also guided several PhD students under Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam.
Post-retirement, Dr. Bhattacharyya continued to serve the Government as a senior consultant in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Assam, offering his service to better Child Health management in the State till the end of the year 2018. Presently, he is the Medical Director of KGMT Multispecialty Hospital, is a charitable Trust hospital in Guwahati.
Dr. Bhattacharyya has extensive experience in pediatric and Neonatal Surgery, Medical education and Healthcare management. However, his primary interest is in the care of children born with congenital disabilities. He has published many peer-reviewed papers on various congenital defects in newborns and children and authored chapters in books on research methodology. He is a member of many professional bodies like ASI, IAP, IAPS etc., and he has organized several national and state-level conferences.

Prof. Patowary obtained his MBBS degree from Gauhati Medical College under Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, India, in 1993; a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the same institute in 1999. He was awarded Fellow of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine (FIAFM) at its 42nd  National Conference of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine at Cuttack in 2021. Also, the Award of Distinguished Fellowship of National Foundation of Clinical Forensic Medicine (FNFCFM) was conferred in recognition & appreciation for developing a new Autopsy Incision, the Cosmetic Autopsy Incision, in September 2011 at its 4th Annual Conference Clinforensicon 2011. He is also the Fellow of the International Medical Science Academy (FIMSA). Prof. Patowary has authored eight chapters in different undergraduate and Post-graduate books by different authors with 30 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He is resource faculty in numerous CME, Conferences and workshops both at the national and international level and involved in the training of the staff of different organizations on medico-legal issues, including the Police and Judicial officers, apart from teaching the subject Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. He is a guide for the PG in the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati, Assam and North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanty received his MBBS from Maharaja Krushna Chandra Medical College, Berhampur, Odisha and completed his MD in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology from the same medical college. He has a vast experience of more than 20 years in teaching and research in various institutes of national repute like Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, JIPMER, Puducherry and finally in AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he joined in 2013. He is presently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar. In addition to that, he also serves as the Dean (Examination), AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. He is a member of the board of studies for various Post-graduate courses at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. He has been guiding postgraduate students during their dissertation and research. He has been an external examiner of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Examinations in the various institutions of national repute. Further, he has been invited as a subject expert for faculty recruitment at many leading institutes. He has 69 publications and has presented many posters and scientific papers at various National and International conferences. He is a life member of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine, the Indian Society of Toxicology, the Indian Medical Association and the Karnataka Medico-Legal Society. He has been deposed as an expert witness in various national and international courts. He was an external observer in the National Snakebite Conference held at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Ernakulum, sponsored by the World Health Organization. He is the vice president of the East zone of the Indian Society of Toxicology. Dr Ganguly Joined the Gauhati Medical College in Assam in 1981 with National Scholarship. He passed his MBBS in 1986 with university ranks in both the Second and Final MBBS examinations. He secured the gold medal for securing the Highest marks in Pharmacology. He did his MS in General Surgery and passed his final MS examination in 1990. He was for a short term the State Referral Surgeon in Arunachal Pradesh. He was engaged as an independent surgeon in the Departments of Surgery and Orthopedics in the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital in Itanagar, the capital town of Arunachal Pradesh. He joined the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh in 1993 as a Registrar of surgery. He learned Laparoscopic Surgery, which was slowly making inroads in India, to England in 1994 and learnt the Laparoscopic basic surgery there. He came back to join the teaching position in the Government Medical Colleges of Assam and has been engaged in teaching and research activities for over 28 years. He has undergone extensive training for skill up-gradation and teaching methodologies and participated in all the University-sponsored academic excellence programs.

A severe teacher and researcher, Dr Narendra N Ganguly, has over ten original publications in various international journals. He has participated in multiple international and national academic programs as a speaker, Orator, and Presenter. Dr Ganguly Is presently working as an Associate Professor of Surgery at Jorhat Medical College for almost the last ten years. During his stay in Jorhat, He was the Staff president. He initiated many exciting academic and innovative programs. The JMCH Reflections is a zoom-based web learning program that was started under him, and probably this is the only such program with the Air of a talk show being conducted regularly. Speakers from the US of A, Brazil, and various other states of Assam have taken part in this program, and presently it is the talk of the medical world program. An avid educationist, Dr Ganguly also published many Educations related thought-provoking peer-reviewed research articles in various international journals.

He was the General Secretary of the Gauhati Medical College Teacher Association and was the key person to prepare two critical Bills. The Medicare Personnel Protection act of Assam and the Medical College teachers’ service rule; are present acts now in the state of Assam.

Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Kumar Sarma obtained his MBBS degree from Gauhati Medical College under Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, India, in 1984 and Master of Surgery (MS) degree in General Surgery from the same institute in 1988. He was awarded Fellow of Association of Surgeons of India (FAIS), International College of Surgeons, Indian section (FICS), Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (FIAGES) and Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (FMAS).

Dr. Sarma is a life member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ex-Treasurer and Vice-President of its Assam Branch and Editor of its journal JASA for three years), International College of Surgeons (Indian section),  Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, Indian Society of Wound Management, Indian Medical Association, Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons, Indian Hernia Society, Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of India, Indian Society of Ambulatory Surgery, Emergency Medicine Association of India, Asom Sahitya Sabha and Assam Science Society. Dr. Sarma is a member of the research degree committee of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Assam. He is a member of an Expert Group in Emergency medicine constituted by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Dr Sarma is trained in a revised basic course in teaching in Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, and research methodology by the SSUHS. Dr. Sarma is an undergraduate examiner in Surgery in Gauhati University, SSUHS of Assam, West Bengal and Gujrat University. He is a postgraduate teacher and examiner of Surgery in SSUHS and postgraduate examiner of Emergency medicine in SSUHS, Kerela University and Diplomate of National Board. He was the organising secretary of FIAGES-2016 and EFIAGES-2017 of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons at Guwahati. Dr. Sarma presented many papers in the state, national and international conferences. He has several scientific publications in international, national and state medical journals. He has contributed to 5 chapters in four reference books of surgery. He is the reviewer of three medical journals. He has written a chapter on Medical Writing published by Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers, New Delhi, India. He is a managing editor of the International Journal of health research and medicolegal practice (IJHRMLP) and an editorial board member of JASA (Journal of Assam Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India).

Dr. Sarma acted as a resource person, speaker and presenter in various CMEs and conferences. He has conducted a workshop in research methodology. Dr. Sarma is a prolific creative writer in the Assamese language. He is working for the popularisation of science amongst people.  He is a member of the state academic committee of the National childrens’ science congress in Assam. Dr. Sarma received Indian Medical Association ASB Academic Appreciation Award for Best Paper in 2000, S.D Sahewalla Memorial Trophy of IMA as Best Medical Literary Person of Assam in 2007 and Award of excellence in 2018 from the International Journal of health research and medicolegal practice.

Dr Anku Moni Saikia received her MBBS degree from Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati, Assam, in 1990 and an MD degree in Community Medicine from the same institute in 1999. She is the Prof. and Head of the Department of Community Medicine, Gauhati Medical College and current President of Alzheimer’s and Related Disorder Society of India, Guwahati Chapter and working for the welfare and care of dementia patients in particular and elderly in general. She has excellent academic experience in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates and research for more than 27 years. She mentors postgraduate students for their dissertations and research and guides PhD students under Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences.

Dr Saikia is also Academic Faculty for the course Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (PGDGM) under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) since 2004. She is also trained in ‘Preventive Geriatrics’ at International Institute on Ageing, United Nations, Malta as an UN-sponsored candidate.

Dr Saikia has authored four chapters in different undergraduate and postgraduate books with 31 national and international peer-reviewed index journal research publications. She has been a resource faculty for numerous CME workshops and Conferences at different reputed government and private institutions. She is also involved as a master trainer for various National Programmes such as NVBDCP, ICD-10, IYCN, casualty assessment of AEFI etc.

She is a lifetime professional member of the Indian Association of Public Health, Indian, Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, Indian Academy of Geriatric, Breastfeeding, Promotion Network of India (BPNI) and Alzheimer and Related Disorder Society of India (ARDSI); besides these, she is also editorial board member and reviewer of highly Indexed journals like Indian Journal of Community Medicine, BMJ (Open Access).  An Editorial board member of the Indian Journal of Basic and Applied Medical Research, the International Journal of Health Research and Medico-Legal Practice, the Journal of Medical Science and Clinical Research and the Kenkyu Journal of Medical Science and Clinical Research, she has reviewed many research articles to date.


Dr Deepjyoti Kalita MBBS, MD, PhD

Dr Deepjyoti Kalita obtained his MBBS degree (1997) and MD (Microbiology) from Gauhati Medical College, India and then acquired a PhD in the area of molecular diagnosis of Hepatitis Viruses under a research grant from Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India. He got trained in molecular diagnostic techniques/ Molecular microbiology/ Sequencing/ NGS from various centres, including ICMR-RMRC (Dibrugarh & Bhubaneswar), NICED-Kolkata, AIIMS-New Delhi, CMC- Vellore, NCDC-New Delhi, Roche-Institute, Mahidol University (Thailand), Akershus University (Norway) etc.  He is also trained in evidence-based medicine from South East Asian Cochrane Centre for evidence-based practices at Vellore. Dr Kalita is the recipient of multiple travel grants from agencies like the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), AIIMS Rishikesh, Govt. of India etc. – enabling him to visit places like Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Bangkok, Lorenskog etc. for academic purposes/presentations.

Dr Kalita is currently working as an Additional Professor of Microbiology at AIIMS Rishikesh (since July 2020) and Principal Investigator cum In-charge of State Level Viral Research and Disease Laboratory at Rishikesh (for the State of Uttarakhand), India. Before this, he was an Associate Professor at AIIMS Rishikesh. Earlier, he worked as Associate Professor & Assistant Professor under Govt. of Assam. His current responsibilities include teaching/guiding undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students in Microbiology, Virology, evidence-based medicine, infection control, quality assurance etc.; Research in infectious disease/Microbiology; Patient care (laboratory diagnosis/infection control) etc. His main research areas are virology, autoimmune diseases, next-generation sequencing, quality assurance, infection control etc. Lab accreditation, medical education, religious studies etc., are his other areas of interest. Dr Kalita receives research grants from multiple agencies – ICMR, DBT, DHR, AIIMS etc.  Currently, two MD students and one PhD scholar are working under the direct supervision (Principal supervisor) of Dr Kalita.   

 Dr Kalita is a visiting scientist at KK lab, Guwahati Biotech Park, IIT-Guwahati, where he is involved in research on Mycobacterial TB dormancy and CD271 cells (Mesenchymal Stem cells). He established the autoimmune lab at AIIMS Rishikesh in 2016, and it is currently a well-equipped, fully functional 24x7 lab. He is also the in-charge of virology/ COVID-19 at AIIMS Rishikesh, where more than 3 lakh covid tests (RT PCR) were performed in one and a half years (so far).

Dr Kalita is involved with multiple collaborative research and project work as PI/Co-PI. He has more than 60 research articles on infectious diseases published in national and international indexed journals. Dr Kalita is a life member of the Indian Medical Association, Indian Association of Medical Microbiology, Indian Virology Society, Indian Immunology Society, American Society for Microbiology, European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (ESCMID), Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) etc. Earlier, Dr Kalita acted as a founding member and treasurer of North East Clinical Excellence Forum/NECEF (https://clinicalexcellence.in/) before leaving North East India to join the job AIIMS Rishikesh.

Dr DS Yadav did MSc (Biotechnology) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee in the year 2003, Qualified CSIR-UGC-NET-JRF (2003 & 2004) and GATE (2004) in Life Sciences. Completed Doctoral Research in ‘Human Cancer Genetics/Genomics’ in the year 2012 titled ‘Gene expression profiling and Genetic Variations of Oral Cancer’ from ‘National Institute of Pathology (NIOP)’, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, and awarded Doctorate Degree from BITS Pilani, Rajasthan. Completed Post Graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice (PGDCJ) from School of Law, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.

Have been awarded for international travel grant under the “Young scientist Category” by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, GOI, to present research work titled “Genomic alterations detected by Targeted Next Generation Sequencing in betel quid and tobacco-associated oral Cancer in Indian population” in international conference and workshop organised jointly by Human Genome Organisation (HUGO) and International Genetics Federation from 13th-18th April 2013 in Singapore.

After doctoral research, he got recruited through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 2011 as a Forensic Scientist (DNA Profiling/Forensic Biology) in Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He was training on forensic case examination at CFSL Kolkata and CFSL Chandigarh and Quality Management System Accreditation of FSLs as per NABL & ISO/IEC 17025 at CFSL Hyderabad. Attended training and workshops on various aspects of the criminal justice system at the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (LNJN-NICFS), New Delhi.

Significantly contributed to establishing forensic biology division at CFSL Guwahati, initiated examination and reporting forensic biology cases (first biology/serology case) at CFSL Guwahati. Later on, he significantly contributed to establishing DNA division at CFSL Bhopal and initiated examination and reporting of DNA casework (first DNA profiling case report) at CFSL Bhopal. Also contributed as one of the committee members of DFSS for up-gradation of FSL Jharkhand, Ranchi, as well as a committee member in the establishment of ‘State of Art DNA Laboratory at Chandigarh’. 

Have more than ten years of experience in the examination as reporting officer in crime cases requiring DNA profiling and forensic biology in different CFSLs (Kolkata, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Bhopal and Pune). Additionally, he worked as a resource person in forensics to train personnel from various investigating agencies, establish & upgrade forensic labs and imparted training/supervising dissertation work of post-graduate students from various universities.

Prof. Hazarika graduated from Gauhati Medical College, under Gauhati University, Assam, India, in 1983; Diploma in Medical Radio-Diagnosis (DMRD) from Assam Medical College, under Dibrugarh University, Assam, India, in the year 1986; MD in Radio-Diagnosis from the same university in the year 1989.

Prof. Hazarika has contributed to the upliftment of Radio-Diagnosis in the state of Assam in different capacities during the service period, more than 30 years in the form of the development of the new department in new Medical College, the introduction of post-graduate courses in medical colleges and contributed for getting recognition from controlling body (MCI) as the capacity of Professor and Head of the Department. Prof. Hazarika is a pioneer in the development and growth of ultrasonography and Colour-Doppler in the entire North Eastern region of India and worked for the development of Mammography, apart from doing regular work on CT and MRI.

He has contributed to the field of medical science education, particularly about Radio-Diagnosis, as a Guide and Co-guide of several theses for Post-graduate students of Radiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ear, Nose and Throat and Surgery etc., in the capacity of Asst. Professor, Associate Professor and Radiology from 1995 to till date in Gauhati University, Assam University and SSUHMS, Guwahati.

He is also an examiner of the thesis of different Universities like Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University, Assam University, SSUHMS, Guwahati, Calcutta University, etc. He is also the post-graduate examiner of different universities and the National Medical Board, New Delhi examiner.

He has represented as a technical expert member and Chairman of the different technical committees for procurement of high-end medical equipment in state and central government institutes. Apart from this, he has acted as inspector of MCI on many occasions for appraisal of post-graduate seats in different medical colleges of India and also acts as inspector of Gauhati University for approval of opening of radiation physics course in BBCI, a central Government run Cancer institute. 

He has been an appraiser of the DNB course in Radiology conducted by the National Board of Examination, New Delhi. He is also an expert member of different recruitment boards of the state of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and other bodies. He is a member of Governing body and recruitment board of TRIHMS (Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science) Arunachal Pradesh.

He has attended many national and international conferences and CMEs accredited by the Medical Council of India at the state, national and international levels. He has been a faculty and guest lecturer at various conferences and presented many scientific papers in different CMEs and conferences. He has presented many scientific lectures as a guest for state-level conferences, other educative workshops, etc. He has published more than 30 scientific articles in different journals, including peer-reviewed national and international journals in radio-diagnosis and other medical fields. He is also a regular contributor to columns of state Newspapers (Assamese and English) of national repute for different contemporary issues, including health.

He is a life member of IMA and an Emeritus member of the Indian Radiology and Imaging Association and served the organization in different capacities at the state and national level in the form of Joint secretary state branch (IRIA), central committee member (IRIA), vice president state branch (IRIA), president of state branch (IRIA), etc. He was one of the organizing committee members for the National Level Golden Jubilee Conference of the parent body of the Radiology and Imaging Association; IRIA- Goldcon-97. He is a senior Forensic Medicine and Toxicology professor known as Hospital Administrator. 
Prof Yadav is elected as National President of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine (GC: 2022 - 2025). Prof Yadav has more than 300 publications in various International and National journals. He is working on more than 20 Research Projects in medical ethics, medical negligence and various health laws. Associated with many journals of International and International reputes in various capacities.


Dr Imran Sabri, MD FRCP Edin, FFLM

Dr Imran Sabri has been working as Head of the Forensic Medicine Division at the College of Medicine, King Faisal University, Al-Ahsa. He is the Founder and Head of the E-Learning Unit at the College of Medicine, KFU. He obtained his doctorate from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, INDIA, in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology and researched the recovery and isolation of DNA in forensic Samples. He has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, since 2019. He is an affiliate Member of The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Practitioners, The Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine [FFLM] of the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom. He is an AMEE Certified Medical educationist and Adjunct Faculty of the Department of Medical Education at the College of Medicine, KFU. He is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Medical Justice, published in INDIA, and a peer reviewer for many scientific journals, including Forensic Science International. Dr Himamoni Deka completed her MBBS and MD in Anatomy from Gauhati Medical College; Postgraduate diploma in Geriatric Medicine (PGDGM) in 2011 because of keen interest in elderly care. She is a member of India's Alzheimer's and related disorders society (ARDSI), Guwahati chapter.

Dr Deka had completed her PhD (Genetics) in 2017. To enrich herself with a further depth of knowledge, she underwent training in genetics at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, Tata Memorial Mumbai. She has completed one ICMR funded project on genetics as Principal investigator and is presently also involved in two more ICMR funded projects as a co-investigator. She is currently working as an Associate Professor of Anatomy and In-charge HLA tissue typing and transplant immunology laboratory with a teaching and research experience of 13 years at Gauhati Medical College. She was a speaker/ Resource faculty for many National/ Regional workshops, Conferences and CMEs. She had chaired many scientific sessions in National and international conferences. She is working as an editorial board member of the International Journal of Health Research and Medico-Legal Practices (IJHRMLP). A reviewer of peer-reviewed journals like OJPAS (Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences ) and National Journal of Clinical Anatomy (NJCA) SOCA. She is a member of the Research degree committee and PhD guide from SSUHS.  She has 13 publications to her credit at different National and International journals. Dr. Utsav Parekh obtained his medical degree in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology from the prestigious NHL Medical College, Gujarat (India), securing a gold medal in post-graduation. He has been appreciated by police and judiciary authorities for his contribution in a medicolegal field for more than ten years conducting medicolegal autopsies of all kinds to aid in the administration of justice. He conducted autopsies in many landmark cases. He authored 35 research publications in reputed national and international journals; out of which 22 publications are listed in PubMed (including but not limited to The Lancet, Forensic Science International, Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine, Medico-Legal Journal, Journal of the American College of Cardiology etc.) in collaboration with international authors. He attended 16 national and international conferences on forensic concerns. He has been invited as a scientific committee member and chairperson in international forensic conferences. His presentation on forensic education was awarded first prize at the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine (IAFM) national conference. He is a member of the editorial and reviewer board in many national and international forensic journals of repute. He contributed to an editorial article in the esteemed journal – Forensic Science International (FSI). He completed the Advanced Course in Medical Education (Fellowship in Medical Education) by National Medical Commission. He organized continuous professional development programs in the field. He has delivered expert talks as a guest speaker on various platforms. He authors chapters in well-regarded books on medical negligence and forensic pathology. He is appointed as a post-graduate teacher and allotted several academic appointments, including a member of the board of studies and convener of the committee at university. He is also appointed as a centre appraiser for the conduction of NEET-PG by the National Board of Examinations. He is a life member of many national and state organizations in the forensic field. He was felicitated with star faculty award and gold medals at the working institute. He has been involved with medical education and is dedicated to teaching, training, and practising forensic medicine and its growth for close to one decade.

 


Prof. (Dr.) Chandana Kalita

Currently working as Professor and in charge of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Govt Dental College, Dibrugarh. Affiliated to Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS). She completed BDS from Regional Dental College, Guwahati, in 1988. She took a master’s degree from the Institute of Medical science of Banaras Hindu University in 1993 and a PhD from Guwahati University in 2011. Her topic for PhD is “Dental caries incidence of school-going children in and around Guwahati city”. She did PG Diploma in Clinical Research in 2018- and a one-year fellowship in Dental Genetics in 2017-18. She completed a Distance Learning course for an International Certificate from the Principals of Bioethics and Human Rights under the Department of Education UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa) in 2018. She is a PhD Guide of SSUHS (Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences. She has teaching experience of more than 30 yrs for UG and 23 years for PG courses. She is the Reviewer for JCD (PubMed), JMC and IJHRMLP. She served IDA, Assam State Branch in various capacities like Convenor CDE, CDH, Secretary and President. She was the Scientific Co-chairperson 14th FODI & 7th IES National Conference, 1999. She was the organising secretary at the PG convention, NEIGRIMS, Shillong and Scientific chairperson of the 35th IACDE National Conference. She has more than 26 publications in index journals. Dr O. Gambhir Singh is currently working as a Professor & Head of the Department, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology Department S.R.M. Medical College, Potheri, Chennai. He completed his MBBS from A.N. Magadh Medical College, Gaya, Bihar, in 1995 and his M.D. (F.M.) from M.P. Shah Medical College, Jamnagar, Gujarat, in 2006. He has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience. He did an extensive study on homicide cases from 2000 to 2004, and his research paperwork, "A Unique Trends of Murder-suicide cases in the Jamnagar region of Gujarat", was published in the Journal Of Forensic & Legal Medicine in May 2008. For the first time in his medical history, he reported an incident of an electric entry wound on the eye. It was published titled "Death Comes Through Eye: A Rare Case Of Electrocution" in The American Journal of Forensic Medicine & Pathology. Sept 2009. He has more than 35 scientific publications in National & International journals and three books to his credit. He has a keen interest in research on topics like Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Toxicology & Forensic Radiology too. He has also contributed some literature and pictures to India's two leading forensic medicine textbooks, namely 1. Clinical and Forensic Toxicology, written by Anil Aggrawal, and 2. Textbook of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology written by V.V. Pillay. He has organized many C.M.E. workshops, seminars, and symposiums and has co-chaired International and National conferences. He is a board member of the Indian Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology, Red Flower Publications (P) Ltd. Currently, and he is a reviewer member of leading journals like International Research and Publications in Medical Sciences Journal, International Journal of Forensic and Community Medicine, and The Journal of Forensic Medicine, Science and Law.

Dr Dhiraj Baruah received his MBBS degree from the Guwahati Medical College, India, in 1998 and MD (Radiology) from Assam Medical College, India, in 2004. He went for further training in India and the USA and joined the Medical College of Wisconsin as a faculty in 2012. While in Wisconsin, he took leadership responsibilities as Chief of Cardiothoracic Radiology (07/2017 – 06/2020), Chief of Emergency Radiology (07/2016 – 12/2019), Co-Director of Cardiac MRI (07/2017 – 06/2020),            Program Director, Scanlon Cardiothoracic Fellowship (07/2017 – 06/2020), Cardiothoracic lead for Center of Imaging Research (07/2014 – 06/2020). He moved to the Medical University of South Carolina in the year 2020. Presently, he has leadership responsibilities as Vice Chair of Quality and Safety and Division director, Thoracic Imaging. He is a current fellow of the Society of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Besides leadership activities, Dr Baruah is also involved in editorial activities for different journals. He is a panel reviewer for the well-recognized radiology journal ‘Radiographics’. He is an associate editor of the journal Cureus. He is a current reviewer of the following journals - Radiology, Radiology – Cardiothoracic Imaging, Radiographics, European Journal of Radiology, Acta Radiologica. He received multiple awards for reviewing articles, including ‘Reviewer with distinction’ for ‘Radiology’. He is a question writer for the American Board of Radiology.

Dr Baruah published multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented numerous national and international invited faculty presentations. Dr Baruah delivered an invited grand round talk at the ‘Yale university’ for ‘MR in lung cancer’. He was invited as a visiting faculty in Guilin Medical University in China in 2018. Dr Baruah received awards from different national and international radiology societies, including ‘Magna Cum Laude’ from the largest radiology organization, ‘Radiology Society of North America’.

Dr Baruah mentors undergraduate students, medical students, residents, fellows in the USA and internationally. He is currently an assigned mentor for the ‘Society of Thoracic Radiology’, ‘Association of University Radiologists’ and American College of Radiology’.

Prof. Adarsh, a Gold medallist, is currently Professor, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology and is also In-charge Forensic Anthropology & Forensic Radiology at AIIMS, New Delhi. He is the first person in the world to receive Commonwealth Fellowship in the UK twice- in 2011 and 2015. He is also a Fellow of the Indian Association of Medicolegal Experts (2014), International Science Congress Association (2015), Indian Society of Toxicology (2016) & Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine (2020). He has been an honorary medicolegal Expert to the National Human Rights Commission and Central Bureau of Investigation-topmost agency of criminal investigation in India, for over a decade, where he has handled around one thousand complicated and high-profile cases. He is a founder of the Association of Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows of India( ACSF)  and Editor-in-Chief of ACSF Bulletin.

Prof. Adarsh is Visiting Faculty to Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK, National Piragov University, Vinnitsya, Ukraine, National Police Academy, Hyderabad, CBI Academy Ghaziabad & Central Detective Training Institute, Chandigarh. Has been an examiner and subject expert in various public service commissions & universities of India, Nepal, Mauritius & New Zealand. Delivered two orations & about 100 lectures at various scientific conferences worldwide, published 80 papers, wrote five chapters in various textbooks and acted as an Editorial board member and peer reviewer in 20 journals of speciality from India and abroad. 

Representing the country at the highest level as Governing Council Member of 3 International scientific organisations viz. International Academy of Legal Medicine, INPALMS & APMLA. Currently also Honorary President of IAMLE and Vice President of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine. He was honoured with Commendation Certificate for his exemplary work in Forensic Investigations & Human Rights by National Human Rights Commission in 2014, the Education Award for Excellence by the Indo-US Global Foundation in 2016 & the International Cooperation Medal by the Government of Ukraine in 2020.
