Dr DS Yadav, a highly qualified professional with multiple master's degrees in biotechnology, graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee in 2003. He passed the CSIR-UGC-NET-JRF exams in 2003 and 2004, as well as the GATE exam. His academic journey led him to complete his doctoral research on 'Human Cancer Genetics/Genomics' with a focus on 'Gene Expression Profiling and Genetic Variations of Oral Cancer' at the National Institute of Pathology (NIOP), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in New Delhi, and received his doctorate from BITS Pilani in Rajasthan. He also honed his expertise by completing a postgraduate diploma in criminal justice from the School of Law at Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi.

I have been awarded an international travel grant under the "Young Scientist" category by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, GOI, to present research work titled "Genomic alterations detected by Targeted Next Generation Sequencing in betel quid and tobacco-associated oral cancer in the Indian population" at an international conference and workshop organised jointlyby the Human Genome Organisation (HUGO) and the International Genetics Federation from 13th to 18th April 2013 in Singapore.

After doctoral research, he was recruited by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 2008 as a forensic scientist (DNA profiling/forensic biology) in the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He was training on forensic case examination at CFSL Kolkata and CFSL Chandigarh and Quality Management System Accreditation of FSLs as per NABL & ISO/IEC 17025 at CFSL Hyderabad. He participated in training and workshops covering various aspects of the criminal justice system at the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (LNJN-NICFS), located in New Delhi.

He made a significant contribution to the establishment of the forensic biology division in Guwahati, spearheading the examination and reporting of the first biology/serology case at CFSL Guwahati. He significantly contributed to establishing the DNA division at CFSL Bhopal and initiated the examination and reporting of DNA cases (the first DNA profiling case report) at CFSL Bhopal. Also contributed as one of the committee members of the upgrading of FSL Jharkhand, Ranchi, as well as a committee member in the establishment of the 'State of the Art DNA Laboratory at Chandigarh'. 

With over a decade of experience, Dr DS Yadav has served as a reporting officer in crime cases necessitating DNA profiling and forensic biology in various CFSLs (Kolkata, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Bhopal, and Pune). His role as a resource person in forensics, training personnel from diverse investigating agencies, establishing and upgrading forensic labs, and supervising the dissertation work of postgraduate students from various universities further underscores his expertise.
